Should we really just get rid of it ? It says that's an OEM partition on the storage manager screen. which a google search tells me, is a backup partition in case i want to restore the system.

we need details of your current laptop to make informed/detailed comments. Although an SSD is definitely recommended. even if a small one coupled with bigger HDD for bulk storage.
