Not sure why but I checked the event viewer again after the last crash and there is a 14 minute period leading up to the crash as well as during the crash where there were no recorded events.

So, I think the battery solution has worked. I have been running my computer for a few hours with no crashes with the cpu at 100% and stressing the graphics card as well.

I don't know if it is related or not to the cause of the crashes but since doing the restore, and before the restore, I have been updating the drivers, but when I get to the chipsets the updates don't install, and if I go through the device manager it says my drivers are up to date but the...

I created a txt file of the events log from my most recent crash today, (see below), the crash occured around 7:04 not sure to the exact second though.

So I looked for a memory dump file and there isn't one anywhere. I'm not sure how to go about sending you the event log through here though.
