News DLSS Transformer Model for DLSS 4 is out of beta as Nvidia looks to officially incorporate new model to improve image quality and efficiency

Exactly this ^^^. Additionally the CNN model already looks good, specifically at 4K resolution. When upscaling from 1080p, it is a perfect 2:1 upscale so DLSS works even better than usual especially in motion. (Actually i find no reason to used balanced or quality mode at 4k, because the 2:1...

News DLSS Transformer Model for DLSS 4 is out of beta as Nvidia looks to officially incorporate new model to improve image quality and efficiency

I still get a performance boost from using CNN over the Transformer model. Hopefully we'll still be able to manually swap between models in games. Or Nvidia rectifies the performance impact of the Transformer model on older GPUs.

    Question Ryzen 7 5700X versus 5700X3D ?

I'm not sure what games you are playing, but 60 FPS is a low bar for CPUs to achieve in general. Normally most games become CPU taxing once you hit triple digit FPS. Generally, only extremely demanding games will be seriously CPU demanding at 60 FPS. The Ryzen 7 5700X is a good purchase if the...

    Discussion Closed

I'm not sure what your situation is exactly, but from a pure performance to cost perspective, you pretty much have to upgrade to a Ryzen X3D chip to see a really good performance improvement. If you look at the 5700X3D, that chip beats the 9700X in some games and matches it in others. I know...

Question High idle temps on my CPU ?

I'd recommend re-seating the CPU cooler and re-apply new thermal paste just to make sure it wasn't an accident on your end. As a Ryzen 7 5800X3D owner myself; my average idle temps in 78F (25.5C) ambient temperatures is in the 40s. Light loads (and i mean even the lightest load) will bring the...

Question Best Price To Purchase A Used 6900 XT

I agree with the others, There's not a huge reason to buy a three generation old video card unless its on a ultra steep discount. Going with a RX 9070 or 9070 XT will ultimately give you more longevity. You'll also get even more bang for your buck if you sell your old video card.

Question Which CPU should I get if I play RTS games with a lot of units ?

Generally the frequency and cache advantages rarely outweigh the huge price increase of a flagship CPU with more cores. But ofc, if money is no object, then just get the best of the best.

Question Which CPU should I get if I play RTS games with a lot of units ?

ugh yeah, i forgot the game was THAT old. I'd try asking on the Starcraft 2 forums and seeing if you get any responses from people with modern rigs. Best i can find is stuff like this: View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QXcYv09LyaM

Question Which CPU should I get if I play RTS games with a lot of units ?

It depends greatly on how sensitive the game is to cache or compute. Some games are more compute bound while others are more cache bound. Though, as a general rule of thumb, the older the game is, normally the less cache bound it is and it is more compute hungry. However, this only applies if...

News New RTX 4070 Ti Super features recycled RTX 4090 silicon — Zotac RTX 4070 Ti Super Solid carries AD102 die under the giant cooler

There's nothing complicated with the drivers. You would use the same Nvidia drivers as always. The card still identifies as a RTX 4070 Ti Super. Nvidia has been doing this for years with a plethora of GPUs over the past several generations.

Question Star Citizen performance with a Ryzen 7 5700X3D ?

Ah bummer. the 5700X3D will still be good regardless. Yes, you can set clouds to very high but don't expect good FPS even on a 4090. If you enable DLSS you can get away with lower quality without the clouds artifacting due to the way DLSS reconstructs the image.

Question Star Citizen performance with a Ryzen 7 5700X3D ?

Evocati member here — Star Citizen is incredibly CPU taxing, probably one of the most CPU taxing games on the planet right now. Upgrading to any X3D chip will give you a night and day performance improvement, more so in Star Citizen than any other game probably. I upgraded from a Ryzen 5 3600...

Discussion Is it worth upgrading to the 12900K from the 3700X?

Honestly I'd just buy a Ryzen 7 5800X3D, or even a Ryzen 9 5950X. Either way, that will be cheaper than buying an outright new system. Plus you won't have to worry about E-core scheduling. I do a ton of multitasking on my 5800X3D, including running an occasional VM. Works great for my needs...

News Two AMD Zen 5 CPUs may receive a significant performance uplift — Ryzen 7 9700X and Ryzen 5 9600X rumored for 105W TDP option with next AGESA update

The point was to demonstrate what adding power does to the 9700X and 9600X. It wasn't to point out how much faster the 9700X is vs the 7700X, with and without PBO.

Question GA-990FXA-UD3 (rev. 5.0) and bios settings which may cause stutter.

Trying to run a modern day GPU with a over 10 year old CPU, not to mention it being one of the worst CPUs in history is your problem. Gets some new hardware that's not so old. Even a used Core i5 or i7 from 2018 would be lightyears faster than that chip.
