From my experience, device manager usually does fine, but going to the website often makes the drivers more likely to function properly.

Have you tried disabling other speakers? You could also try reinstalling Nvidia sound drivers.

I would look for deals on Amazon Prime Day, on Amazon and Newegg. The brand doesn't really matter unless you are overclocking and if you think a warranty is important (which it can be).

Also try reseating the GPU.

have you tried reinstalling all motherboard drivers?

Do you have the AIO mounted properly? The tube side should be down, and the radiator should be above the water block. This shouldn't affect the temps much, though, just the noise. Make sure that you have plenty of case airflow. Also, depending on how old and used the gpu is, the thermal paste...

Also, try other 3.5mm jacks and sound systems to see if it is a strange interaction.

Is the audio built-in or sound card? I would contact the manufacturer if it is still under warranty. Try any way to produce sound from PC that is possible beforehand, like going into system sounds and playing test sounds (which are a short jingle).

Do you have the audio output set correctly? If so, the audio device may be malfuncioning. Try power cycling, by turning off psu and holding power button for at least 30 seconds.

If I can't fix this drive, I will do a clean win10 install on the old drive that was in the laptop that I happen to be typing on right now (has SSD). The laptop is separate from the desktop.

How did it break? Are you concerned that the cpu and ram broke too? Or are z97 motherboards too expensive? If what you have is overkill, and everything broke, I would buy a prebuilt i5 system and add a low profile gpu if necessary.

wd caviar blue WD7500BPVT-24HXZT1. It worked fine for a long time after the drop, so I do not think the drop was the problem.
