Thank you but that cable goes from a regular 4 pin molex to a 3 pin for the fan. Unfortunately the power supply I have uses Sata and PCI express connections. I don't have any molex connectors. (I think I see where I went wrong in my question, gonna edit out the mini molex part)

Still reading about the additional stress on the memory controller. Thanks for the heads up about VCCSA and Northbridge, so far they sound like resonable soloutions to this problem. But to avoid this all together I may just go with one of following sets of ram as the slower timings don't bother...
