It's very good to know I'm not going insane.

Question New build on a ASUS Prime X470 Pro-AMD boots but no video

I have this mobo and this memory, though I'm using a Ryzen processor with built-in graphics. It won't work if the memory is in either of the B slots. Try putting them in A1 + A2. That is the only way I could get it to boot. It will see all 32 GB, but of course it won't be in dual-channel...

Question ASUS PRIME X470-PRO strange memory problem

Just an update: I replaced the RAM with another product on Asus' verified memory list: Corsair Vengance LPX 2x16GB DDR4 3000MHz. I made sure to pick a product with a different brand of RAM chips. Exact same behavior: Any time a DIMM is in either of the B channel slots it won't boot. Both...

Question ASUS PRIME X470-PRO strange memory problem

It was originally set to the default, which I believe is 2133. I subsequently set it to 3000 to see if that would make a difference. I also tried raising the DRAM voltage to 1.35 which is what the memory specifies. Neither mad a difference. I am loathe to think that the problem is the CPU...

Question ASUS PRIME X470-PRO strange memory problem

Of course B2+A2 is the first configuration I tried. It doesn't boot. (no video) As I said above, with any memory in any of the B slots it won't boot. Not with 1 stick in B2, not with one stick in B2 and one in A2 and not with one stick in B2 and one in B1.

Question ASUS PRIME X470-PRO strange memory problem

I did. I took the cpu out and inspected both the cpu pins and the socket. No problems. And it boots just fine as long as there is no memory in the B channels. I'm suspecting that it's some specific incompatiblity between this particular memory and this motherboard. Does that make sense...

Question ASUS PRIME X470-PRO strange memory problem

I have a Asus PRIME X470-PRO with a strange problem. I have two 16GB DDR4 DIMMs. The manual suggests putting them in slots B2 and A2. However, when I do, I never see anything on the monitor: the fans spin up, the lights turn on and there's nothing on the screen. If I put one DIMM in A2 it...
