Hi all,
Yesterday I received a "new" (used) motherboard for my home server (based on 4th gen intel, as doesn't need to be high-end). The specs are as follows:
- i5-4670
- ASUS B85M-E Motherboard (previously had MSI H81M-P33)
- 16GB 1600MHz HYPERX Fury
- 120GB Samsung SSD 2.5"
- 500GB Seagate...
Adding onto this, the fans don't ramp up at post, in fact they're completely silent despite running. As soon as the Windows lock screen appears after the bootup, the fans begin to run full speed. Could it be something to do with my Windows installation/an app conflict?
I've checked the CPU fan curve in the BIOS and it seems fine, I've never really tinkered with it before, previously I had an Acer OEM stock cooler (similar to the intel one except it could reach highs of 4000RPM) which never really got loud unless you put some serious load onto it, hence why I'm...
I don't necessarily want to sacrifice high frame rates (as I've got a 144hz monitor), but would reducing in-game settings to let's say medium as opposed to full high or ultra reduce the amount of heat output because there's less work needed to render the frames?
Unfortunately I'm unable to do...
Is there anything I can do to reduce the heat output of my PC?
My room only started to heat up a few months ago and I've always linked it to my PC. Then again, I've never had such high-end PC parts (this time last year I had an i5-9400F and a GTX 1650, now I have an i7-8700 and an RTX 2080)...
Hi all,
I'm in the market for upgrading my cooling solution within my PC. Recently, I upgraded my CPU from an i5-9400F to an i7-8700 (non K version) and it wasn't the smoothest transition (see profile for other thread asking for help) which is likely due to my inadequate CPU cooler.
I've...
Amazing.
Thanks so much for your help, I've tested a couple games and I've noticed that I'm getting alot more FPS as well as substancially lower temperatures. You're a lifesaver.
I've just uninstalled Intel XTU and have applied all of your recommended settings onto ThrottleStop, this seems to be working great (with my own settings, 100% usage would tend to throttle the CPU down to about 3.9ghz, now it runs at 4.28ghz all day long which is exactly as expected)...
Main Screen:
FIVR: (the undervolt settings are the same for both CPU Core and CPU Cache)
TPL:
Also, I have Intel XTU installed to stop the "Power Limit Throttle" it advises me of. As I have now setup ThrottleStop and added it to my startup tasks, would it be sensible to uninstall Intel XTU...
For now I've managed to slightly undervolt the CPU as others have suggested on reddit and such, using ThrottleStop, with a very minimal performance loss. This has reduced temperatures to around 70-77 degrees maximum in 3DMark Time Spy as opposed to the 80-90s I was experiencing prior. I'll...
Hello everyone,
I recently bought a second-hand i7-8700 processor and it's worked fine for a few weeks until recently, where I noticed the PC dumping out lots more hot air than usual, causing my room to be seriously hot and uncomfortable to be in.
Upon further investigation, the CPU...
I think I've just found the problem.
I went onto Advanced Options and clicked command prompt.
Then I typed notepad, clicked save as and found that the system's C:\ drive is my 1TB hard drive where Windows isn't located. The Windows operating system drive is marked as D:\ how can I change this...
