News LG Tandem OLED display hits mass production — Dell XPS 13 is the super vibrant display's first design win

The benefit of high / peak brightness isn’t that you can drive 1000 nits across the entire screen all day, it’s that you can effectively reproduce more colors as luminosity is a component of color. Really bright stuff, like sunlight off of a chrome bumper, might be several thousand lumens /...

News LG Tandem OLED display hits mass production — Dell XPS 13 is the super vibrant display's first design win

Yeah they do. 40% thinner than 100 units is 60 units. 28% thinner than 100 units is 72 units. You can’t then multiply by the same number to get back to the original, but that’s a different conversation. A 50% loss requires a 100% gain to even out.

News An unholy SLI emerges — Intel's Arc A770 with Nvidia's Titan Xp pair up to provide 70% boost in FluidX3D

There is a thriving marketplace for old GPU’s on eBay (or whatever second hand market you want). Even really old parts that lost driver support long ago still have an audience. Anyone that throws away a GPU is literally throwing away money. I agree on wanting to reduce e-waste, but any...

No testing of thermals, thermal throttling or noise levels? While it’s good to validate that the hardware is performing inline with expectations, the 5800X3D / 3080 ti / etc are all known quantities. The main difference in these builds, particularly SFF, is there sustained performance when...

GeForce GTX 1080 Ti At 2.5 GHz+: Overclocking On Air, Water, And LN2

Vanilla 1080ti’s get to 2050mhz under air, and 2050-2100mhz under water. I’ve read reviews of lots of top of the line 1080ti’s and have yet to see any cards improve on stock performance. Unless the acoustics of the cooling solution are superior there is absolutely no benefit to any of these...

AT&T Will Test 5G Networks, Expand Fiber, And More In 2017

"The restriction is worrisome, however, in that it effectively gives DirecTV Now an edge over competing video services for as long as these 5G network trials are running." From a supply/investment perspective this is exactly the type of incentive that encourages companies to invest the 10's of...
