In 1999 I was paralyzed diving in shallow water at the beach. It's been a crazy journey, including getting MRSA and dying for 40 minutes, then being in a coma for 12 days- my third near-death experience.

I shouldn't be here, shouldn't remember anything, shouldn't be able to tell the difference in time od day and shouldn't be able to talk. Thankfully after dying and the coma my memory was fine I just had to learn to talk all over again.

I'm working to raise awareness about spinal cord injuries (an airliner full...350... per week in the US and 1 every 6 seconds worldwide) and help those already injured as well as those yet to be, because accidents happen.
