[SOLVED] What happens if data rate exceeds maximum bandwidth?

Yes, that's what led me to the question above. The best experience seems to come from capping at 250. At that cap my gpu consistently maintains framerates between 240 and 250. I was just wondering if the process of discarding additional frames is detrimental in any way? In particular, does it...

[SOLVED] What happens if data rate exceeds maximum bandwidth?

Thanks for the reply. I'm playing the new Modern Warfare. Unfortunately, the in game limiter only seems to work at certain values. If I set it at 200 it will maintain 200 but if I set it at any value between 200 and 250 it will cap at 250. If I use gsync I will have to cap it with RivaTuner but...

[SOLVED] What happens if data rate exceeds maximum bandwidth?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, my monitor is set to a fixed refresh rate of 240Hz. Does that process cause any additional lag? In terms of lag is it better to cap frame rates below, above, or exactly at the monitor refresh rate?

[SOLVED] What happens if data rate exceeds maximum bandwidth?

I have an Asus pg258q. According to Asus it has connectivity options including DisplayPort 1.2. As I understand it DisplayPort 1.2 does not support frame rates above 240fps at 1080p since it would exceed the maximum bandwidth. My gpu supports DisplayPort 1.4. So what exactly happens if my fps...

Question 6 pin SATA to 8-way PWM splitter for radiator fans

Thanks I had Asus fanXpert on my last motherboard and liked it but ultimately just ended up using the bios for fan control. No because I didn't like it but mostly because I was trying to cut down on the number of processes constantly running in the background. Just about everything comes with...

Question 6 pin SATA to 8-way PWM splitter for radiator fans

Thanks you both for the additional information I'm really understanding all of this much better as a result. Everything is up and running and seems to be working well. I have the 4 fan radiator connected to the CPU_Fan header mainly because I can see those fans at a glimpse at all times and in...

Question 6 pin SATA to 8-way PWM splitter for radiator fans

It never occurred to me that I could even split the pwm signal from a header despite the fact that I was wondering what would be the best way to keep all the fans in sync. I will definitely go with a different header for each hub. I plan on going with separate SATA cables for each hub as well...

Question 6 pin SATA to 8-way PWM splitter for radiator fans

I think the reading from fan 1 is just feedback to the motherboard. Somehow a pwm signal still needs to get to all the fans to regulate their speed. I think what Karadjgne is saying that the Swiftech 8-way does this by splitting the signal from the motherboard header.

Question 6 pin SATA to 8-way PWM splitter for radiator fans

Interesting, and thank you for taking the time to reply. That is something I had not considered and was not even remotely aware of. Do you think I will be okay if I keep it to 8 fans or should I look for a better hub? Any recommendations for a better hub?

Question 6 pin SATA to 8-way PWM splitter for radiator fans

I was thinking hub also but used splitter since that's what Swiftech called it. But I didn't really understand the distinction until I read your excellent explanation. Thank you for the clarification. Additionally, thank you for clearing up my confusion in regard to how to power the hub. I...
