    1/2 multipliers...bah! myth I say!

you obviously misunderstood what I meant!!!!!! I said that going to 1/2 multi's allowed my proc to run higher than with the "normal" whole number multi!! I did NOT say that I was the only one to be able to use this feature........ read the entire post before oozing out your sarcasm! ( noob!)

    The AM2 X2 Overclocking thread, advice,questions,benchmarks

Close to your sys, but my mobo's nb-->ht speed settings will not stay!! Always reverts back to default of 5x upon reboot. So, currently am using "ntune" to lower ht multi to 3 ,then using "a64info" to decrease my multi from 10x to 9.5x and increasing bus to 274ish.Vcore at 1.425 although cpu-z...

    1/2 multipliers...bah! myth I say!

Ok, so I tried staying with the whole number thing for a while and it got my rig to run no more than 2.55ghz at best. Then,I went from a 10x to a 9.5x---and voila!! I can now run my rig at 2.675ghz stable with a high clock of 2.74ghz.!! So, for me anyway, it has worked out--although it may not...

    Anyone have the GA-M55SLI-S4?

I see that you don't o/c but could you go into your bios and hit "ctrl" and f1, bringing up the "advanced" list and go in and change your nb-->ht multi to 3 or 4, restart and see if it stays at whichever one you chose? You'll see the change if you have "cpu-z" installed------but if you'd rather...

    Anyone have the GA-M55SLI-S4?

yup, got it but not too happy! had to rma the first one, and the second one has its own problem! You see, after you change the ht x to 3 or 4 in the bios, upon reboot, when looking at info in cpu-z, it still is the same 5x it was before!! Your htt speed will still be at 1000. I have to use...

hey, first off everyone in here will tell you the same thing.."all chips perform/overclock differently". That said, it's just a matter of trial and error. All you do is start upping your fsb a few at a time(3-5)leaving your vcore where it's at now,and if it posts...you're good to go.Once your...

    Intel Pentium 4 2.4Gz overclocking

yes!!!!,you're correct, IT WON'T WORK, my buddy tried it on his 2.4a----and ended up with nothing!!!! Actually, what he did was "remove" the bselo pin( never thought of nail polish idea, until it was too late!!!) and it never booted after that. It's just too much for the 2.4a to handle. I did...
