News Colorful puts two M.2 SSD slots inside upcoming GeForce RTX 50-series GPU — Blackwell GPU repurposes unused PCIe lanes for fast storage

With PCIE Gen 5 it makes a lot of sense to do this... Even a 5090 is okay with 16 Gen 4 lakes which is 8 Gen 5 lanes... The x16 slot is a formality. I would like to see CPUs support 32 lanes though in order to better support a few add in options. For that matter, I think there's a lot of...

News 16 billion accounts exposed in one of the largest data breaches in history — enormous data haul holds two accounts for every human alive

What makes you believe this data wasn't encrypted? Just because data is encrypted at rest doesn't mean it can't be decrypted or otherwise accessed... It likely was. Why passwords weren't hashed using a one way algorithm is a different story. Likely has to do with accounts being used by...

News NVIDIA reportedly raises GPU prices by 10-15% as manufacturing costs surge — tariffs and TSMC price hikes filter down to retailers

The issue is that the production allocation from the fabs are often set multiple years in advance. AMD simply can't make more than they are already. They under estimated demand by a lot. Mostly because they knew they couldn't match Nvidia on the high end this generation. That said, last...

News Radeon RX 9060 XT listed by retailer in Brazil — 16GB triple fan model from Gigabyte detailed without pricing

Why 3 fans for this? It has to be overkill... Some people like being able to use a smaller case.

News Nvidia's RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell 96GB graphics card benchmarked, specs allegedly confirmed

The difference is the pro card likely consumed around half the electricity compared to the 5090. Similar to last Gen. It's also likely to cost $7-10k...

News AMD's Radeon VP calls RX 9070 XT demand 'unprecedented' — RDNA 4 launch 'milestone event

While I understand that capacity was set well over a year ago. That said, I wish more of these cards were sold by random draw for verified accounts... Without BS bundles, etc. it's bad enough that some models were 40-45% over MSRP to start from. I refuse to buy from a scalper. I feel like...

News UserBenchmark bashes AMD GPUs and claims they lack real-world performance

It's always about prove to performance. Even then AMD has mostly been priced well. They've launched too much but usually adjust quickly. Even then, they've had to do about 20-30% better in terms of performance and cost combined to get the sale over AMD. And even then doesn't overcome brand...

News UserBenchmark bashes AMD GPUs and claims they lack real-world performance

More that the site owner has a personal hatred of AMD that goes beyond any technical reasoning. He'll also bluster things that sound reasonable as reasons but never ever any evidence backing the assertions. In this case "real world" means synthetic benchmarks and not real world game bench years.

News AMD's 9000-series GPUs sell for up to $2,000 as opportunistic scalpers take control

Don't buy scalped cards... It's really that simple. Just try to deal with low settings on a modest card for a while. The inflated and scalper process aren't worth it.

News US retailer lists RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT starting at $649 and $749 — March 6 launch date confirmed

They're priced inline compared to expected performance and Nvidia pricing for 50 series. While I personally think they should be $100 and $150 less respectively, that doesn't look to be happening. That said if you can get them at MSRP compared to inflated Nvidia they'll sell and still be good...

News Noctua pitches its PC fans as home heating boosters — active fans beat natural convection

It's already a thing. I've got active intake and exhaust vents on the closet my home server and network stuff runs in. If I were building a new house, it wouldn't take much to run an active fan or two at each vent for better circulation.

News AMD says Intel's 'horrible product' is causing Ryzen 9 9800X3D shortages

TSMC has seen demand slip and has additional capacity. AMD could buy this available capacity. It could also shift portions of production to focus on specific products in the near term.

News Solidigm pulls out of consumer SSD market with discontinuation of drives – Storage company shut down consumer division over a year ago

I think it's a shame. The few times I've looked, I hadn't been able to even find Solidigm consumer nvme drives in stock. I've kind of settled on mostly WD Black lately as Samsung has been a little overpriced IMO and the controller firmware issue from last Gen affected me.

News Sapphire launches Pulse B650M motherboard with just two DIMM slots — the $112 AM5 motherboard supports RAM up to DDR5-7400 and higher

Nifty... This may be a great go to option. Especially since 4-dimm ddr5 memory configurations have been problematic anyway.

News Arm to cancel Qualcomm's architecture license as feud intensifies

I fully expect Qualcomm to invest heavily into Risc-V in the next year of they aren't already. Unfortunately, ARM is significantly better performing right now. While I understand ARM POV on this, it's pretty silly all the same. Qualcomm licensing already exceed the smaller company it bought.
