New build-Gigabyte HD7970 OC or Gigabyte GTX 670 OC

Cheers for your help guys. I've gone for the 670, just so many reviews saying good things. Heat and power were probably the deciding factor, very hot here so even a couple of degrees can help. The coil whine was a worry, with the 7970, but I think the 670 will do everything I want. The last box...

    Unmountable_boot_drive Toshiba laptop

Ran spinrite over it, took 2 days on a 20gig partition on a 40 gig drive. Then followed Grumpy's advice and ran "chkdsk c: /p/r" and I'll be buggered, it boots into windows. Spinrite found a some parts were unrecoverable, but all of the data my mate wanted seems to be intact. I held no hopes...

    Unmountable_boot_drive Toshiba laptop

Ah, Microscope diadnostic tool gives me the followin error on the drive- Code 10: Uncorrectable CRC/ECC Error – This is most likely a physical defect in the requested sector, which can be corrected by mapping during a low-level format. With MFM or RLL drives, it may indicate mis-alignment of...

Palit hd4870, ccc wont overclock gpu

gpuz actually reads it correctly (i assume)on the first "graphics card" tab. It says I am running at mem1040 and gpu 785. On the "sensors" tab though, it says 500MHz still.

Palit hd4870, ccc wont overclock gpu

My palit 1gb hd4870 sonic wont overclock the gpu clock in ccc. The memory clock adjusts and is sitting on 1040MHz, but the gpu clock is listed as 500MHz, in "current values", instead of 780MHz, and wont move. Temp comes around 40, activity 0, and fan (without override) is 50%. I'm using 9.4...

PSU- last component in my new build

Very informative for me on my decision, many thanks to all contributors. Upon reading a bit more about Seasonic, Silverion77 is correct on their quality of build. Cheers mate. Since everyone has agreed that the 700w of the seasonic is more than capable of looking after my setup, and the great...

PSU- last component in my new build

I must say that I am leaning towards the seasonic at this stage. Modular/700w/good price. The 750w Corsair, if modular, would probably win on reputation. But room within the case will be at a premium seeing the freight on an Antec 1200 pushed its' price out of my 'country located' budget.
