Grinding noise, only on boot for around two minutes

So I've had this issue for a while and cannot remember how I fixed it on a previous build. The computer will boot up and occasionally make a grinding noise for around 1-2 minutes, whilst booting and during initial load. The cooler, which I assume is the issue is a H115i. It has made this sound...

    [i7-7700k] Are my temperatures okay?

Oh, I do have another question actually. Is it normal for the temperature to spike to 81, hang at 76-81 for a few seconds then drop to an idle temp of 35-40? I should clarify this is only whilst loading everything in Windows after boot. I haven't ever paid much attention to a boot temperature.

    [i7-7700k] Are my temperatures okay?

Thank you for the responses guys. It's funny, I've been in the computing industry for over ten years, but the one thing that always gets to me is temperatures of components. I guess I'm a little OCD about them... Although, that could be because I had an Intel and an AMD build and the AMD build...

    [i7-7700k] Are my temperatures okay?

It was 76 degrees, although I didn't notice it do it in Speccy, only HWinfo.

    [i7-7700k] Are my temperatures okay?

Specification i7-7700k @ Stock H100i Cooler 980TI Gigabyte G1 Corsair Vengeance 3200Mhz Asus Z270-P Motherboard NZXT H400 Case So, I noticed that my temperatures in games was hitting over 80 degrees, and about 45-50 idle. I have since re-seated my CPU and applied some grizzly kryonaught...

Will my GPU survive until tomorrow?

Yeah... I sort of have a final year university deadline. The chip is enclosed though, so it can't really leak anywhere. That should be safe enough, right?

Will my GPU survive until tomorrow?

Basically, I screwed up and put some thermal paste on my GPU assuming it was the stuff I'd used previously. Turns out that it was MX-4 that I used this time (syringe was unlabelled) which is conductive and I've heard is not great for GPU usage as it can cause damage if not applied right. I...

Is it normal for a GPU to idle intermittently between 0 and 1700RPM?

I have a Gigabyte G1 980ti. I'm just curious as to whether this is normal as my card tends to intermittently idle between these fan speeds when I'm not doing anything. That means that it's idle temp is between 45-50 degrees. Should I be doing something about this, and if so, what should I be...

    Stable i7-7700k temps @4.7Ghz?

Nice one. Dropped it down to 4.6 because I've always been really OCD about high temps haha. Thank you though, that really helped.

    Stable i7-7700k temps @4.7Ghz?

I don't overclock often and I'm not really a nazi when it comes to ensuring the voltages are pristine and whatnot. It's at 4.7Ghz, 1.344 is the voltage it'll max out at when under load. I was just curious as to whether 71 average whilst under load (playing playerunknown battlegrounds) is fine...

GRE Tunnels in Windows 2016. Is it possible without Hyper-V?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows whether or not it is possible to create a generic GRE tunnel without the use of hyper-v to do it? The only thread containing an example on establishing one is below and shows it being set up using hyper-v. I asked their support over livechat and they didn't...

New storage drive prevents system boot

Hi everyone, So, I have a couple of hard drives already. There's my main SSD (with Windows installed), a secondary SSD, and a normal hard drive for applications. Everything works fine. I purchased a new 1TB hard drive (brand new) and installed it as you would, going to disk management and...
