I was gone for awhile so I couldnt experiment with this the past few weeks. I have removed the surge protector and bus strip from the equation and the problem persists. So now my primary concern is wether it my psu is the actual source of the problem. I have found others with the same problem...

Best buy doesnt carry parts, just pre-assembled stuff. It should fit it, from looking at reviews. But those reveiws said the case was flimsy and lacked proper airflow. If comes with just one 80mm fan and little room for adding fans. I couldn't find the cpu cooler clearance :(
