There is no issue with memory speed, it's just MSI reading it at half speed. It does the same for me on my 980m, but the card runs perfect. As you can see, it's reading at 3600, exactly half of 7200.

Uh, Forza Horizon 3 on an HD 4870? Doubt you could even do smooth 1080 with that...maybe on low.

Also try tapping the pixel with a fairly light force with something like the end of a pen cap covered in a soft cloth.

Go to Task Manager and end the process from there, then uninstall. It's still running in the background and probably is the cause of the issue. I don't believe it's dead, btw. Maybe the NVidia driver got corrupted or the overclock program messed up the settings. After all this, try to reinstall...

32GB of ram is just a waste of money, unless you do a lot of rendering or audio work. I also agree about ditching the FX for an i5 and you definitely want more than a 60hz monitor...

Using a GTX1070 to push 1440p at 60hz would be a waste of that card, in my opinion. Might as well just get a gtx980 then.. In fact, it would probably be a waste to play 1080 at 144hz as well.. You can't get a 144hz 1440p monitor?

Is it just me or is that processor not optimal for GTAV? If you're getting about the same fps at the same settings as you were on your older card, wouldn't that mean the cpu is bottlenecking your game? As far as I know, that cpu is slower than an i3, and doesn't GTAV recommend at least an i5...

I suppose you can say that. A powerful GPU such as a gtx970 will push out hundreds of frames per second on any game on max settings at 768p. Like probably 500+

Late answer, but yes, yes you can. I have the same exact laptop as you and I used MSI Afterburner to overclock it by 135 base clock/300 memory. Frame rates went up by about 5fps on average. No extra heat issues. Completely safe.
