News Reviewer reports RTX 5080 FE instability — PCIe 5.0 signal integrity likely the culprit

I wish it was more clear if the multi-pcb design of the FE card was a common design or if none or all of the 3rd party designs also use this.

News AMD announces Zen 5 Ryzen 9000 processors launches in July — four new Ryzen 9, 7, and 5 processors with a 16% IPC improvement

Just posted the same thing. Was thinking this would be the most compelling reason to wait. Without it, it's just a slightly faster 7000 series, but given that a 7950x is now just over $500 now, you're getting no added value assuming the 9950x will have a similar msrp to the 7950x and a street...

News AMD announces Zen 5 Ryzen 9000 processors launches in July — four new Ryzen 9, 7, and 5 processors with a 16% IPC improvement

No mention of a dedicated NPU? Without it there doesn't seem to be a compelling reason to wait for it.

News NASA's Voyager 1 satellite is currently lost in deep space due to a critical memory error

Not sure if I saw the same one, but it came up on my YouTube feed. The nuclear battery is fascinating. Reminded me of the plutonium heater used in The Martian.

News Fire Sale? Amazon Flooded With Dodgy, 16-Pin GPU Power Adapters

Totally agree. They are profiting and there are no consequences. I just wonder when there will be consequences like a massive class action lawsuit, or how about this crazy idea, an alternative!

News Fire Sale? Amazon Flooded With Dodgy, 16-Pin GPU Power Adapters

This is the absolute worst thing about Amazon. I don't understand why Amazon isn't held responsible for allowing 3rd parties to rip off customers.

News Intel Core i9-14900K, i7-14700K and i5-14600K Review: Raptor Lake Refresh XXX

Why not throw in the 13900KS in there for comparison?

News Intel Launches 14th-Gen Raptor Lake Refresh: Core i9-14900K, i7-14700K, and i5-14600K on October 17

Will be interested to see how 14900K/KF compares to 13900KS and whether it's pointless to pay a premium for an inferior part.

Review Dell UltraSharp U3824DW Review: Two Screens In One Plus KVM And USB-C

I guess I don't understand the value of this monitor. It's 38", 60hz, doesn't support freesync or g sync and is well over $1,000. I have a 43" Vizio 4k TV that I use as a monitor that is also 60 hz but at least it supports free sync and VRR and it was less than $250. A 38" 3840X1600 monitor is...

Review Dell UltraSharp U3824DW Review: Two Screens In One Plus KVM And USB-C

I don't quite understand the 3840X1600 UW monitor. This one is 38". There are a multitude of options in 4k 43" monitors which would be this monitor if the bottom 2 inches or so weren't cut off.

News AMD Ryzen 9 7950X vs Intel Core i9-13900K Face Off

For me, if you add in upgradeability, I'll choose AMD. This is the first generation of AM5 so I suspect there could be at least 3 generations that use it, but potentially as many as 5 as there were with AM4. I'm not even sure if Intel will use LGA 1700 for 14th gen processors.

News Save $150 on HP Envy Desktop With RTX 3060 and 11th Gen Intel

I was going to say this deal isn't nearly as good as the Costco deal on the HP Omen 25L. I7 11700F, 32gb ram, 500GB nvme drive, 1tb SATA drive and an RTX 3060 for $1399, but it just sold out.

Review ID-Cooling SE-207-XT Review: Big Air on a Budget

Would like to see the Scythe Fuma 2 in there. It's the same price. Most of those are a little more.

News Windows XP Source Code Reportedly Posted to 4chan

The article brings up great reasons to be concerned, but Linux has always been open-source. Why don't we have the same concerns about a modern, up-to-date OS being open-source? I'm sort of being facetious, because we're obviously not concerned as Linux is installed on 10s of millions of servers...
