If I were in your shoes I would keep a couple of the components, like the Optical Drive, Ram, HDD, SSD(depending on if it is fixable), and GPU, and buying a new Mobo, and possibly new CPU.
Do you have an optical drive or a hard drive? If so it could pretty easily push you past that 550W rating on your PSU, which would explain the crashes, although I don't know about the driver updates slowing it down.
