Thanks for your reply! I've did look into using an eGPU andit looks like I would need to remove the WLAN card to use the slot for the mPCIe cable. So I assume that that's the best option to bring this laptop up to par for 4k editing?

Hi, I have the Lenovo Thinkpad E540, and was looking to upgrade the GPU so that I can edit 4k video. Since this thread is quite old, I'm assuming there have been significant advancements over the last few years. What GPU would you recommend, given that the laptop would need to be disassembled...
