Cryorig makes excellent coolers, I would recommend it. The clearance is fine, as long as it fits inside the case. You should be good to go, and maybe overclock a bit. :) -Volta

Red CPU light means it failed to POST (Power ON Self Test). That can't be good. When you booted it up, does the light eventually turn off or does it remain lit?

Try a X58 motherboard, they aren't cheap but they are good for overclocking and I've seen those Xeons pushed up to 4Ghz with them. -Volta

I can't say because I don't have the same CPU and motherboard as you, but it sounds like you need to up the voltage.

I would say the Phenom II X4 B99. It has 4 cores, 6MBs of L3 cache, and is clocked at 3.3GHz. If you decide on something else, try to go for the most cores and the highest clocks (I doubt HP motherboards allow overclocking). I don't have much experience with AMD CPUs but this seems like a good...
