thank you people for sparing your thoughts on this, will be heading down tomorrow to get this all put together... got the psu changed but i guess will stay with the 3870 just for the fact the board is xfire ready so probably when the kid gets some savings put together he can juice up his rig a bit.

i think its a bug with the rams, have heard of same problems with some friends but i also have a similar setup and there are no problems, i think it has got to do something with the dual channel mode that the ram operates in.
yeah maybe your card maybe faulty cause i had the same problem with my seagate once, changed the cables and it worked fine for quite some time but then the problem returned, you would be better of getting your drive replaced
raven that is one cool looking peice of hardware, but i m confused over the 128 bit memory, can you please reflect on that cause the x850 has a gddr3 256 bit one, sorry for being a pain in the you know what.

i narrowed my search after i read the best video cards for the money guide, and the best option it listed was the x850 pro and according to the vga charts it seems to hold its own against the competition.
