Don't worry about DDR4 memory(it won't be worth the upgrade) or "technology changing fast". As actually tech advancement is the slowest it's ever been... the industry has badly stagnated (or matured, I suppose; depending on how you look at it).
But the 8350 is too old of a chip, it was...
This doesn't even make sense. If you can't build a computer, you would either learn from watching online tutorials or buy one already made. Not pay $900+ for consulting, lol?
But your probably young and will survive(this hard learning experience).
Junk that system, or "dump" it on ebay...
Video editing is a joke, any new(er) CPU will do(even 2012 FX's). Edit some video on your (old?) PC, it will likely be done immediately(or close too it). But for huge files the bottleneck will be the mechanical HDD. If you're dealing with files that amount to hundreds of gigs everyday, you'll...

For gaming I assumed heavy on the CPU, so strong cores are required (although...
Get the 4790K as it's the best and like you said, price diff in minimal.
There is no risk, it's a mature(good yields) 4770K with better thermal paste under the IHS and a higher factory clock speed (which it can easily and safely handle).
And consider stepping up an Asus Z97 board.
Asus...
Are you kidding? Your asking if a new i7 is good for gaming.
It's the best, there is nothing better (even a $1000 Ivy-E chip in a LGA 2011 work station is still a generation behind Haswell). But honestly, a 4690 is more than enough for a gaming rig. The 4790 offers 8 strong Intel threads(vs...
Just be aware that today's GPU's are really showing their age(in years), numerous refreshes/name changes. We've been stuck with 28nm tech since late 2011. Hopefully we'll be seeing some high-end next gen cards in ~6 months or so... NVidia "Maxwell" and the Radeon R9-3XX's should be a nice jump...
If you want something quiet consider a closed loop liquid cooler, like a Corsair H80(or one of their smaller units). Swap out the OEM fans for very quiet ones and your Intel CPU will be cool and you rig quiet.
You don't need a lot of CFM, I swapped out to a single CoolerMaster SI2 on a build...
Build looks good, nice CPU.
If you haven't tried Windows 8.1, you should play around with in a store. You might hate it, as in general it's hated. See the articles on Windows 9? MS is rushing for a reason.
AMD Phenom II X6 Black, 1100T
The good old days:)
Anyway, I'm tapping out before I get kicked out. If half of Tom's really run FX chips, I'm out numbered. Although not "out gunned" I suppose...
(2700K, 4670K)
But I'm here to help, not fight.
Ya, the FX chips refresh on the failed "bulldozer" arch(VERY marginally different)? But those were dark days at AMD, the share price collapsed and the company almost went under. They lost thousands of employees and now rent their old buildings. FM2 and APU's are the future for them. The...
