its was a laptop kanewolf, no option for a pcie motherboard port. however thunderbolt 3 uses pcie lanes so my laptop runs at x8 either way with the ssd. it doesnt have any performance drop with this though. my fps is identical with the pcie ssd and without.

do not get the pcie ssd. it uses 4pcie lanes and will cut your gpu down to 8 lanes down from 16. this theoretically shouldnt make a difference but i got the 7700hq and the 1070 and the fps drop is almost 30 percent. from 125fps average on heaven benchmark down to 94fps. just get the cheapest...

im curious if my having an alienware r4 17 with a 1070 GPU and a samsung p951 m.2 thats m.2 x4 3.0 storage. is using this bottlenecking my gpu so it cant perform at full level? im looking into getting a massive sata ssd to alleviate this.

My budget is around 1500-1700. From what I'm seeing I'm going to have to buy one used. EBay has quite a few options. Now I'm trying to debate which brand/model would be most suitable. I'm starting to love the alienware r4. I think it's a thunderbolt 3 port on it as well

UPDATE: I ran these in a raid 0 for about a year and even switched motherboards and switched back with no hiccups or reprogramming at all. i didnt put these as my os drive however. but they have been rock solid for me, most games dont benefit from the speeds. GTA 5 does however with load times...
