    Retrieving Photos from Bricked iPhone

I have an iPhone 5s that I had for less than a year before it died when it simply refused to take a charge until it ran out. Of course this happened while driving home from out of state, so I was unable to put my photos from both Gen Con 50 and my wedding(!) onto my computer before the phone...

Lost internet connection after Windows 7 update

My son turned his internet back on by opening internet sharing center and clicking on "change adapter settings". I have no idea why that worked, but it did. Thanks for the advice everyone.

Lost internet connection after Windows 7 update

Also, quickly -- I just tried a "clean boot" and that did NOT take care of the problem (internet connection still gone). I've noticed other people complaining about similar situations over the years, but nothing regarding this update that happened today. I'm at a loss.

Lost internet connection after Windows 7 update

The computer in question is running AVG antivirus (the free version). It's on a wired connection. To nhasian, do you mean the network adaptor drivers for the computer or the router? Also I'm not sure how to download the drivers if the computer isn't connected to the internet. Thanks!

Lost internet connection after Windows 7 update

So my son was in the middle of one of his blood bowl league games this evening and a popup asked him if he wanted to install a Windows 7 update. He's only 12 and inexperienced enough that he didn't just tell the system to wait a few hours until he could finish his game, so he told it to go...

8 prong power plug for a 6 prong socket?

So, my two NVIDIA GEforce GTX 280 cards recently fried and I bought a pair of MSI GeForce GTX 560 TI Twin FrozrII/OC cards to replace them. They arrived today and I excitedly opened them up, set up my machine for the switch, opened it up, pulled out the old cards, and began inserting the first...

    Graphics Card Upgrade Advice Wanted

Umm... Now maybe a silly question... As I understand it, all I'll need to do once the new cards come in is open the case, pop out the old ones (I know how to do this), pop in the new ones (I assume I can link them with the same little ribbon that is linking the old cards), and then boot in...

    Graphics Card Upgrade Advice Wanted

Thanks a lot! I purchased a pair of 560Ti cards from tigerdirect earlier today -- should have them in a couple of days and hopefully my computer problems will be solved. [Edit -- actually, what I bought was a pair of MSI GeForce GTX 560 TI Twin FrozrII/OC cards... From what I read they're a...

    Graphics Card Upgrade Advice Wanted

Thanks again -- just for reference, what would be the pros and cons of the 570 vs two 560tis? I mean operationally, I can check the prices out myself. Still not sure of what kind of advantage dual-carding really offers.

    Graphics Card Upgrade Advice Wanted

Let me add a few -- I'm currently leaning slightly towards picking up two GTX 560ti cards. As I understand it the 560ti is less powerful than the 570/580 cards, but cheaper, and runs cooler. Two of them won't cost a lot and my machine is currently set up to run two cards (I'd like to avoid...

    Graphics Card Upgrade Advice Wanted

Hello, I bought a nice machine two years ago that came with two NVIDIA GEforce GTX 280 cards in it. In the last three months, these cards seem to have degenerated (no doubt this was brought on by an overheating problem caused by a dust cap forming over the fins of one of the major heat sinks...

Two Cards, at least one is damaged

Thanks for the answers. Still haven't gotten around to opening the case yet... The pattern is definitely this: * I'll turn on a game (World of Warcraft, typically) * Within 15 minutes (usually 3-5), the screen turns into a rainbow pixel version of whatever it was just showing and freezes *...
