    SATA vs M.2 SSD

To go M.2 you want to make sure you get an "M type" and PCIe type card/drive, and that the hardware that excepts the M.2 - either Motherboard or card adapter for it - has 4-lane PCIe support rather than 2-lane. Use that M.2 for your boot drive and your applications and you will be running just...

    $800 Budget PC Build

If you go the route of refurbished or preowned via Ebay or Craigslist you'll be able to come under that number. I'm not sure if you need water cooling or not for that CPU, but those units can be had pretty inexpensively. You just need to be sure it fits the case you get.

What should i upgrade first graphics card or cpu In mind (i7 7700k) Or (GTX 1070)

Wow that is an awesome processor. Nice. So the only thing I would maintain is to instead have two SSDs, one for boot and applications, and one as a clean drive for scratch/media cache. Then you are setup real well.

    Pointers on buying new system

Gunit, You said the x99 was obsolete. Now you say "obsolete or not," etc. I don't follow your point. But that said, Potato didn't ask for the current state of the motherboard development. He asked for a system that could handle his "needs," while considering a budget. He has a problem, and...

USAFret, You're still not responding to Potato's question, but rather using the thread to start an argument b/c you disagree with another person's response. If you're not going to reply with civility to the poster, than you should move on.

    Pointers on buying new system

Well he asked for an opinion. My opinion is to not pay a premium and to not use credit cards. Rather, always buy one generation removed, always buy pre-owned or refurbished, and always buy with cash. So one ends up with a well matched system, while paying less than 50% of retail. USAFret, you...

    Pointers on buying new system

Hi, Get (1) an x99 motherboard, (2) a 6 core CPU like I7-6800k, (3) 32Gb RAM, (4) a 128GB SSD to boot windows and your software, and (5) - presuming you'll need a working drive to cache for your calculating, a 256GB SSD as an exclusive cache/scratch drive. If you buy 2nd hand on Ebay it'll be...

Shutdown is taking so much time

Is your boot drive an SSD? If not, put in a 128GB SSD to boot and install Windows and regular apps. That said, it might help to run ccleaner or the equivalent on your present boot drive.

It mostly all looks good, 6 cores. What GPU is best depends on what editing software you use. Instead of the one 512gb plexor, you might put a 128gb Plexor PcIe card, or a Sandisk or Samsung 128gb m.2 card, as a boot drive. Use that to install Windows and your editing and after effects...
