[SOLVED] Gigabyte aorus 3080 RTX xtreme rev 2.0 crashing above 2Ghz

I switched to silent bios.. nothing happend. Today i had a crash ingame and a classic sound of hardware disconnect from windows and reconnected... and walla, i no longer hit the 2ghz and the card now peaks to 1905 top as it should. Gigabyte sucks. This is the last time i'm getting anything from...

[SOLVED] Gigabyte aorus 3080 RTX xtreme rev 2.0 crashing above 2Ghz

While it's running on 1920 ghz after the underclock, the voltage consumption is around 1080 mh Well, for that i can tell you two things as of now. I underclocked it to 1920 at peak, and it's running stable, it's ignoring the limiters you set in aorus engine (Confirmed it with a friend that...

    [SOLVED] PSU for gtx 1080ti

The x2700X draws around 105W, the 1080 is around 180 with a hard limit of about 225W. i would go with 650 to be on the safe side, but 550 should be enough.

I am truly dumbfounded, it was this simple. For sure, the moment i switched it to silent it peaks to the stock limit of 1905 while gaming. THANK YOU, you're awesome xD I should do more reading about the stuff i buy, You can lock the thread.

[SOLVED] Gigabyte aorus 3080 RTX xtreme rev 2.0 crashing above 2Ghz

That's a great idea. I'm on the F70 bios.. It may sound like a stupid question - but how do i switch between them? :) I assume i have to flash the silent bios? Thanks!

[SOLVED] Gigabyte aorus 3080 RTX xtreme rev 2.0 crashing above 2Ghz

sizzling is right, I didn't overclock anything, it came like this out of the box, If anything, i had to manually underclock it to make it stable. What i meant by stock, it's the settings out of the box, and i would expect it to plug and play, not burn my personal time to figure out what's wrong...

[SOLVED] Gigabyte aorus 3080 RTX xtreme rev 2.0 crashing above 2Ghz

Thanks. is there an easy way to determine which of them cannot handle the power spikes? If it's the PSU the solution is pretty obvious.. I also tried to game with the underlock, it reached 1920 but was stable with no crashes.

[SOLVED] Gigabyte aorus 3080 RTX xtreme rev 2.0 crashing above 2Ghz

It seems you're indeed correct. The stock settings are those, i've got other issues with it too (RGBFusion won't detect the card, even on a new installation of windows), I will try to decrease the clock to the default of 1905, and see how it plays out. Don't tell me about hot weather, where i'm...

[SOLVED] Gigabyte aorus 3080 RTX xtreme rev 2.0 crashing above 2Ghz

I really dont know what to tell you, im monitoring with afterburner and it hits 2ghz without me changing any values. If i underclock it, it goes around 1950, beats me...

[SOLVED] Gigabyte aorus 3080 RTX xtreme rev 2.0 crashing above 2Ghz

Cooler master v850 ATX 850W Black (RS850-AFBAG1-US) I mean, it would be fine if it wasn't getting enough power - but if i bump the power limit to the max, it runs fine above 2Ghz under heavy load...
