[SOLVED] SOLVED - I messed up - RAM too fast for motherboard, any way to make it work ?

Hi everyone I just realised after posting the 'solved' I didn't follow up and there has been more activity in the thread. Thanks for the suggestion Secret-Squirrel, as others have mentioned, I was looking for something that was matched which is why I went for the RGB setup, not for the...

[SOLVED] SOLVED - I messed up - RAM too fast for motherboard, any way to make it work ?

Well, I have good news. After a lot of back and forth and sending them pictures, they are going to refund me and are sending a courier to pick up the dodgy RAM, so that's a good result! So now, I need new RAM...and the options are rather limited for 4x32GB sticks. Thanks very much for all the...

[SOLVED] SOLVED - I messed up - RAM too fast for motherboard, any way to make it work ?

Still on live chat. I've sent them pictures of the RAM and box, waiting to see what the resolution is going to be. Whether they'll swap out to new ones, or offer a refund....or be difficult...I don't know. Should I be refunded, what would you guys recommend as replacement 128GB? I'm not...

[SOLVED] SOLVED - I messed up - RAM too fast for motherboard, any way to make it work ?

Well...at least I know it's not something I've done. Thanks for the help guys, I should note that it's in a 128GB box (naturally) and there is a sticker over the main barcodes (I assumed a standard Amazon sticker), shining a light from the underside of the box I can see through the sticker and...

[SOLVED] SOLVED - I messed up - RAM too fast for motherboard, any way to make it work ?

No not yet, it didn't occur to me until I was talking to the knowledge people in here, I thought it was a motherboard incompatibility issue. The seller was Amazon UK itself, not a third party seller on Amazon, which is why I'm really surprised.

[SOLVED] SOLVED - I messed up - RAM too fast for motherboard, any way to make it work ?

    The sticker says: CMW128GX4M4D3600C18 DDR 4 128GB (4x32GB) 3600MHz 18-22-22-42 1.35v v3.44 And then the serial number.

[SOLVED] SOLVED - I messed up - RAM too fast for motherboard, any way to make it work ?

I've run Memtest now, it's showing the same thing as CPU-Z....four sticks of 8GB... So that seems to be the diagnostic tests done, is it definitive now then? As I said before, there's no way the motherboard could be making them report incorrectly? Thanks.

[SOLVED] SOLVED - I messed up - RAM too fast for motherboard, any way to make it work ?

Ha ha, I managed to burn out a CPU back in the day doing that once, the smell of burning silicon still haunts me, I don't know if I dare chance that again, especially with this CPU, not easy or cheap to replace! It's a Bequiet Dark Rock 4 OK....I think we may have an answer, I really hope...

[SOLVED] SOLVED - I messed up - RAM too fast for motherboard, any way to make it work ?

Thanks everyone for your replies, let me try and answer the questions in order... cdrkf I'm quite happy with the lower speed, I'm not overclocking. I've changed the settings manually to 2666 and rebooted, still 32GB. The voltage seemed to be set at 1.35v so I've left that alone. I did see...

[SOLVED] SOLVED - I messed up - RAM too fast for motherboard, any way to make it work ?

Thank you both for your replies, both posts bring up great points. cdrkf - I'm going to get a brew and go through your suggestions slowly in a few minutes and see what happens. Thanks very much for the detailed reply! Secret-Squirrel (love the name and avatar!), it did occur to me, but...

[SOLVED] SOLVED - I messed up - RAM too fast for motherboard, any way to make it work ?

Hi everyone So, it appears I've made a big screw up...I've been building a new system as I can get the parts together and have: ASRock Taichi X570 Amd 5950X Corsair 128GB RAM, specifically 3600Mhz, model number CMW128GX4M4D3600C18 The machine boots fine, but it reports only 32GB RAM, with 8GB...

Question Drives not being seen in W10 after plugging in - weird problem!

Just to update this thread with the latest info. The PSU is an Enermax, it's been tested with different connections and cables to no effect, so it's not that. The problem seems to be from something within Windows that has screwed up the permissions, or maybe a motherboard fault that's...

Question Drives not being seen in W10 after plugging in - weird problem!

Thanks for the reply Lutfij. I'll have to check a couple of the specs with her (such as PSU make/spec) when she's back at the computer later but I'll update what I can in the OP now.

Question Drives not being seen in W10 after plugging in - weird problem!

Hi everyone I’ve got a strange problem that I’m struggling with. Firstly I should say it’s on my Mrs PC and she’s currently away with the machine atm so I’m trying to troubleshoot remotely. 1 SSD and 4 HDDs were removed from a perfectly working W10 computer on Friday. They were stored safely...
