New mobo now CPU is not working proberly >:(

I just received my mobo from the retailer today, he exchanged it with a new one. :D I applied the cooling paste, set the FSB to 333MHz and there we go, works like a charm. Thanks for your help guys.

I'm with 69camaroSS on this one, that would be sweet... just to show off a little...

Cheapest way to get to 3 Ghz with Core 2.

take a look @ this post here I would go with the e6600, I would though still get another cooler... (I'm not an expert, I just thought you might wanted to see that link), it can only be better than following the "3+GHz on a budget" for 631$ the e6600 is 309$ throw in a 150$ mobo, another cooler...

New mobo now CPU is not working proberly >:(

yeah, nothing to do about it though and the reseller will probably see it if he cares to take a look at it but I'm hoping for the best, the worst thing that can happend is that he won't exchange it... luckily I just came to think of that my insurance will probably cover it if tell them some...

New mobo now CPU is not working proberly >:(

Yea, I deserve it, i know... :P I see... I'll have to look into that undervolting stuff when I get it to run again, which sadly might take a couple of days at least, maybe longer if the reseller won't exchange it with a new one... (Why does it absolutely have to be christmas this month, It's...

New mobo now CPU is not working proberly >:(

Sure, undervolting it explains a lot, I wouldn't like to make it run any slower though just to get rid of the heat, I need it to be as fast as it can.. (and then maybe just little faster...) but first of all I need it to run proberly! So, I bought some thermal grease today.. I went straight...

New mobo now CPU is not working proberly >:(

No not really, the cpu temp is simply fluctuating at different loads. 1C is not exactly a big difference. As m25 said, you should definitely add thermal grease, not too thick tho, because K7s do run hot. Unless you undervolt them and clean the HS of dust and add the right amount of thermal paste...

New mobo now CPU is not working proberly >:(

I tried setting the memory speed seprately but not the timings, maybe I should try that... I read in an article here on THG though that asyncron memory and CPU sped dosen't perform all that well as syncron speed (I can just set em up to be the same, yes), I seriously doubt that it's my memory...

New mobo now CPU is not working proberly >:(

I'm not OC'ing anything here... I'm just trying to get it to run like it's suppose to. (I was actually looking to buy a ASUS board but it's not that easy to get a socket A mobo anymore and I didn't have the patience to buy from the US or something, also I didn't wan't to pay the extra dough for...

New mobo now CPU is not working proberly >:(

Since my old mobo fried a week ago I just bought an AsRock K7NF2-RAID, the new mobo here works fine except that I can't figure out why my Athlon XP 2800+ CPU refuses to run proberly on it, it outta run 2.0 GHZ but it seems that something goes wrong... if I set up the FSB on the mobo to run...

Was it my CPU or MOBO that died?

So, I bought my self a new mobo and it just arrived today, I was unable to find a desent ASUS board though so instead I bought a AsRock K7NF2-RAID (not many socket A boards around anymore....) I plugged it in right away and there we go, it was apperently the old mobo that was fried... I've got...

Was it my CPU or MOBO that died?

I tested the PSU by connecting another one.. No difference. Also I looked everywhere on the board including underneath, there is no visual signs anywhere... Your cpu could have taken a dive, but your description says mobo all over it. Those funny smells are probably from capacitators, though...

Was it my CPU or MOBO that died?

Doh'! Here ya go... CPU: AMD Athlon xp 2800+ (2.0GHZ) Mobo: Gigabyte GA-7VAXFS RAM: 512MB Kingston HyperX GFX: Geforce 3 Ti-200 As I already mentioned above I don't have any spare parts... :( Seems to me that it's most likely the mobo, the CPU has "no reason" to die since it has been under...
