    Aftermarket Cooler for 5870

Thanks a lot for the responses. I'll go with the Zalman :) The thermal tape doesn't seem to costly so I'll get those too if I can get my hands on.

    Aftermarket Cooler for 5870

I'm looking to replace my 5870's stock cooler (fan's loose and making a lot of noise, not surprised huh) Which one between these two do you suggest? I may crossfire but not in the near future. Zalman VF3000A Heatpipe VGA Cooler or Arctic Cooling Twin Turbo Pro VGA Cooler Thanks for your input.

How's this Laptop for the price?

Thanks for your response, I didn't even notice the 7200 vs 5400. I'll probably be going with the first choice, although the i5 you spoke of seems a better deal for the price I need the quad core for CAD also. Do you know of any laptops currently on sale or any websites that show if they are? I...

How's this Laptop for the price?

I've found this. Scroll down to the middle, "the fully loaded" version is a bit better than the above plus a coupon!

    Leanest AV for 64bit Win7

Looking through many reviews and biases I'm having hard time finding the AV that's least taxing on my computer, while being a viable protection. What do you recommend for a 64-bit Win7 user looking for an AV that doesn't use too much computer resources? Cost is not an issue ;)

    Reformat to new SSD

NCIX has them on sale, it's $64.99 CDN for the OCZ Vertex 2 50GB and $74.99 for the Intel X25-V 40GB. The Solid 3 is $108, and no shipping since I can pick them up. Given this do you find the X25-V to be the best bet?

    Reformat to new SSD

Thank you very much. Unfortunately the SATA III SSDs are out of my price range. Is the performance difference big enough for me to wait until I can afford one? I know that's a subjective question, but if you have a link to explain it farther I'll enjoy the read.

    Reformat to new SSD

Hi, I'm not very tech-savvy so hopefully you'll help me out :) I currently have Win7 installed on a regular 2T HDD (Hitachi Deskstar), and I'm about to purchase a 50G SSD. I'd like the OS and few apps to be on the the SSD, pretty much a boot drive, while the 2T hard drive just for data; so as 2...

Core i7 High temps (stock heat sink, no OC)

That's why I was thinking the surfaces weren't even. If the heat-pipes aren't warm under load then there's improper heat transfer from IHS to HSF, logically. I don't want to insult you by asking the obvious, so I don't really know man... sorry to hear you've an issue that makes no sense. Two...

Core i7 High temps (stock heat sink, no OC)

Are your CPU (IHS) and HSF surfaces flat? Use the edge of a razor-blade to check ideally. Even if the heatsink is mounted well heat-transfer can be bad if the surfaces aren't flat and make proper contact. Also check your voltages... may be you accidentally overvolted.
