My main criteria are: 1920X1080 or lower, 1ms response time and above 60Hz refresh rate. Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

I'm currently thinking of upgrading my i5 3570 to i5 6600 - is this worth it in terms of performance increase? Or should I invest in a 144Hz monitor instead? Used mainly for gaming and my GPU is an ASUS Strix GTX970. However, my motherboard is a Gigabyte Z77-D3H (Socket 1155) - is it compatible?
