Thanks for that, I had already looked at event viewer just wasn't sure how to filter it to find the problem. Issue turned out to be 2 rogue shortcuts in the startup folder(which by the way takes some finding on Windows 10) that had been created during a failed Java update. Thanks for the help! :-)

for the past couple of months, for no particular reason i can think of, about 30 seconds after my pc has booted i get a message coming up saying "The target "" of this Internet Shortcut is not valid. Go to the Internet Shortcut property sheet and make sure the target is correct." how do i find...
