Question Dying CPU or Bad Cooling?

OK, so benchmarked with 'Assassin's Creed Odyssey' and the temps were hitting +70 again. According to Corsair Link, the pumps are working correctly (3000RPM) and I can feel heat from the radiator, so it's doing something. I've purchased an EVGA CLC240 cooler so as to test (this one had the...

Question Dying CPU or Bad Cooling?

So update: I've reapplied using Coolermaster E2 and have used the spreading application method this time. Temps look a lot more stable, so perhaps I just suck at applying thermal paste? I'll monitor over the next 24 hours and let you know whether this fixed it or not.

Question Dying CPU or Bad Cooling?

OK, reverted BIOS, but same thing which sucks - at least I know it's not that though. I'm going to try the other options now - BRB.

Question Dying CPU or Bad Cooling?

CPU: i7 7700k Cooler: Corsair H100V2 MOBO: Asus Maximus Hero VIII RAM: Corsair 16GB GPU: Asus 2080 PSU Corsair: 760w Right, so I am getting very weird temperatures from my CPU and I don't know which of the following it might be: i) The CPU is dying. ii) The cooler is dying. iii) I can't...

Mass Efffect Andromeda - Serious Performance Issues

OK, after re-introducing services post clean boot, I am now 100% confident that the root of the issue is Game First Service III. I re-installed it to test and immediately I had performance issues, albeit, not as severe as before. That said the first time I played Mass Effect Andromeda, the issue...

Mass Efffect Andromeda - Serious Performance Issues

UPDATE: Right, after a lot of investigation between myself and EA 2nd line support (hats off to those guys by the way) I have resolved the issue, but it may be one of two things (or both of them - still testing) which fixed it: i) Asus Game First Service III. We all know and love Asus; they...

Mass Efffect Andromeda - Serious Performance Issues

You may be on to something there - when you say "switched to the 980", do you mean physically (using a separate card?) or did you manage to do something else instead?

Mass Efffect Andromeda - Serious Performance Issues

Right, before I get started, the machine I'm running this on has the following: i7 6770K (not overclocked, but not really necessary IMO) 16GB RAM Nvidia 980Ti So that's out of the way - I am having a horrible time with ME:A at the moment, wherein I seem to get a tonne of "lag", although I'm...

Sound Card - which power-cables can be used?

So I have an Asus ROG Xonar Phoebus 7.1 (longest name ever) sound card, which I purchased solely for the 7.1 feature and customisable sound setup (I have hearing damage in my left ear - the setup can be used to compensate for this). I've recently rebuilt my rig (specs below) and in particular...

    PC Experiencing 'Stuttering' Issues...

Right, appreciate that this has been six months between updates but I fixed the issue by replacing the CPU, MoBo, RAM, PSU, GPU and SSD. I built a new machine. The stuttering is no longer there.

    PC Experiencing 'Stuttering' Issues...

Right, I've also downloaded BurnIn test and PC Doctor (paid) and run tests from there, with no failures (except an Optical drive failure on a BurnIn test - assumed that was a false-positive, but removed the drive none-the-less). I've started removing all non-essential services from my PC (sound...

    PC Experiencing 'Stuttering' Issues...

*frustrated sigh* OK, so it's not the PSU - I've replaced the device and I'm getting the exact same issues. I'm just tempted at to keep going at this stage - get a new CPU, MOBO, GPU, RAM and SSD.

    PC Experiencing 'Stuttering' Issues...

So, another slight update; I am seeing an 'Interrupt & DPC' process remain in Process Hacker, though from experience these aren't really a problem until they become a whole percent and so far, it's averaging at about 0.40% of total CPU usage (though, I've seen it spike at 0.70%). Interestingly...

    PC Experiencing 'Stuttering' Issues...

Hmm, so update - no spurious activity noted so far - it looks like everything that's pushing any form of activity is legit (I'll leave the PC running for a few hours unattended and leave it unattended to see if this shows anything). Currently, nothing seems to be taxing the CPU; even running...
