Yeah, that's a very reasonable consideration, and I am pretty inattentive so I was probably not paying attention when removing the bracket. Unfortunately I don't think that is the problem - just checked again and it only fits the ssd or my original hdd one other way, but that blocks the sata...

I'll take another look now - I hope you are right :). It really only goes on one way though, and I'm fairly sure this is how it was fit on the original hdd...
