WOLED vs QD-OLED Monitors – which panel technology is better?

Very good info. The bulbs in my office and work area are Sylvania TruWave which I really like. I didn't know about the Soraa bulbs so I will have to check those out. Thanks.

WOLED vs QD-OLED Monitors – which panel technology is better?

When will we see red LED technology so we can stop ruining our eye health? With LED technology replacing most indoor lighting our exposure to a one sided light spectrum all day long (unless you take more frequent breaks outdoors for real sunlight exposure) is literally ruining most people's...

News Nvidia Breakfast Bytes are now available at Denny's if you want to experience the 'breakfast of geniuses

If it was a breakfast for geniuses it wouldn't be a high carbohydrate ultra-processed meal. Learn to protect and fuel your brain with ketones and maybe we'd have more geniuses, less chronic disease, and a birth rate in the developed world that can sustain humanity.

News Blown capacitor kills $2,799 Asus RTX 5090 GPU and damages motherboard

Along with not sucking so much power you're basically renting your gaming performance from your power company. The power requirements of high end graphics cards have become absurd.

News Retailer held RTX 5080 ransom unless buyer paid more after the sale had been completed

They might not care about some individual customer, but they do care about their reputation with the customer base at large. Behold the power of the Internet.

News Sandisk's upcoming PCIe 5.0 SSD fights throttling with 7W power

Where is Samsung? They held the flash crown for a long time and the competition seems to be eroding their once solid lead.

News TSMC's Arizona Fab 21 mass produces 4nm chips at a higher price than Taiwan

I'll pay more for "Made in the USA" stamp alone. We can't outsource the production of literally everything to other countries just so we get cheaper stuff. If we want to reduce production costs we can start by cutting needless regulations that make even planing to build production like this cost...

News Samsung refreshes Odyssey, Smart Monitor, and ViewFinity monitors with AI technology

I want 16:10 aspect ratio. Hopefully Asus updates the ProArt line with some newer IPS tech. Not enough competition in the 16:10 area. For gaming and daily productivity work it is so much nicer screen real estate.

News AMD pushes forward with its Radeon stack open-sourcing plans — after being prodded by Tiny Corp

A lot of people would be happy to leave Windows behind. Gaming performance, simplicity of setup, and other Linux obstacles have held many people back thus far. But the gap has been closing for a long time now and Linux does tend to seem more viable than ever. For a lot of people that few percent...

News This NAS motherboard has more 2.5G Ethernet ports than USB ports — Topton N9 comes with eight 2.5G Ethernet ports

Something like this is probably faster and from a company in north America. Dual port cards are much cheaper as well and more common. I would think a switch with power over Ethernet would be a better option for most things, at least for something like HD cameras...

HP Omen 27QS 240Hz 27-inch IPS monitor falls to $299 at Best Buy

Asus ProArt 16:10 aspect ratio models please. I upgraded my old Dell 16:10 to an Asus ProArt PA248QV which are now pretty good deals, but I am still on the lookout for faster IPS 16:10. The colors on IPS are simply amazing compared to most other monitors and after using 16:10 aspect ratio it's...

News HDMI Forum rejects AMD's HDMI 2.1 open-source driver

True. On the bright side at least some companies are trying now. I read articles like this and make a mental note, go display port for all hardware and stay away from HDMI whenever possible. It only hurts the HDMI spec in the long run, but there is collateral damage to open source along the way...

News IBM's new cloud AI enabled SSDs identify and treat ransomware in under a minute

Let the AI arms race begin. AI powered defensive tools, AI powered malware, AI powered viruses, AI powered tech support, and AI powered therapists to smooth it all over when it goes wrong. Haha. It will get interesting. Ultimately I expect technology will leap forward quite a bit as humans...

News Existing workarounds fail with new Windows 11 requirement that invalidates older CPUs — Microsoft's PopCnt restriction appears to be unbreakable

Until someone does something clever like make a memory resident CPU instruction emulator or something maybe. Unbreakable will just be a challenge to some bored developer who says "hold my beer". Haha.

News YMTC denies Pentagon allegations - says it doesn't supply technology for Chinese military use

If the CCP wants spy tech embedded in chips made in China they'll do it, or the CCP will just take control of a new business. As if they're going to admit it if they do. It's not like US chip companies admitted or disclosed back doors in their chips for the three letter US agencies in the past...
