So I can plug the dual monitors, a keyboard, mouse and speakers into this kvm switch and then toggle their usage from pc to laptop? How does it connect or see the two machines?

I have a desktop PC, dual monitors and a work laptop with docking station. My question is how can I set this up so regardless of which machine I turn on it will utilize the dual screens? I don't want to have move the monitor cables each time.

I have not yet connected my custom built NAS but I am wondering if it will work with my current FIOS router (MI424WR-GEN3I) which I believe supports Gig LAN speeds. Do I connect straight to the FIOS LAN port or do I look for maybe the Netgear 8 port switch (GS108-400NAS) to connect to FIOS...

Even better, that saves me some money! As this is just for my home, is RAID necessary? I probably dont need the security but seems like most people tend to use it for redundancy as the HDDs tend to fail from time to time. Otherwise I will go with FreeNas software with fingers crossed.
