    FX-8320 with GTX 970 versus i5-4590 with R9 380

The 8320/970 combo at newegg just sold out. So frustrating! Since this is an xmas present for my son, I have time to wait for 970 to go on sale or perhaps find a deal on a used one on Ebay. I am leaning towards just biting the bullet and going for an i5/GTX 970 build.

    FX-8320 with GTX 970 versus i5-4590 with R9 380

Great info guys, thanks. What would work nicely for me is if they released the rumored GTX 960 ti, that would be the perfect pairing for my build...

    FX-8320 with GTX 970 versus i5-4590 with R9 380

Looking at 2 variations of builds that are within, say, 40 bucks of each other all said and done. The main differences are the CPU and GPU combos. Both GPUs are 4GB. Which is the better gaming rig? FX-8320 with GTX 970 (part of DIY combo deal so can't modify) i5-4590 with R9 380 (pc part picker...

Help deciding on a gaming rig

Thanks for the tip on the R9 380, I am going to research that as a better alternative to the GTX 960. It is a bit less efficient but as long as I get a decent PSU, should be ok.

    Help build gaming pc

You could get a less expensive Mobo, say a MSI Z97 PC Mate for between (90-100 bucks). From what I read, you could get away with a smaller PSU for the 970 and maybe even the 390 though if your going to overclock you may want to stick with the 650. Seeing as the GPU is most important for gaming...

Help deciding on a gaming rig

Yes, you would think I could build it for less than a pre-built. I can get w/in 20 bucks but can't seem to beat the price. Though, I have been looking at just Newegg as opposed to many sites. The pre-built computer is priced at $700 which is my budget (includes OS, taxes, shipping). If anyone...

Want a gaming computer for only $550 on Cyber Monday?

Very cool. You could also slap a GTX 960 4GB card for around $195 and then replace the PSU with a 500 watt one for around $55. That gets you an even better gaming comp for a total of $650 before tax.

Help deciding on a gaming rig

I need help deciding between a couple gaming rigs. One is a pre-built i5-4690/GTX 960 4GB and the other would be a DIY built AMD FX-8320/GTX 970 4GB. They are roughly 30 dollars difference in price. This build is for my son who is an avid gamer. At the end of the day, I would assume the AMD...
