Thanks for the observation. We previously used the Z690 Tomahawk before switching over to the Z690 Unify-X and forgot to change the firmware version. It should be 7D28vA8.

That's correct. You need a combination of a CPU with a good IMC and a capable motherboard. When it comes to the latter, the chances of hitting the higher DDR5 speeds with two-DIMM motherboards are higher.

Both configurations (four memory ranks) offer the same level of performance. With that said, a 2x16GB configuration is typically less expensive than a 4x8GB configuration.

Assuming that the 2x16GB memory kit is comprised of dual-rank memory modules, it should offer better performance than the 2x8GB (single-rank) memory kit.

Install CPU-Z and look at the Memory tab. The value beside DRAM Frequency should be 800 MHz (DDR3-1600).

Corsair's Vengeance RGB (Pro) and Dominator Platinum are available in a white color and 4x8GB configuration in case you want to give them a look.

Your processor's IMC will determine whether you can run DDR4-4000. Just know that DDR4-4000 will not be plug-n-play on all processors.

That G.Skill Trident Z Neo DDR4-3600 C14 is a solid memory kit and works fine on X570 motherboards.

If XMP isn't available, you'll have to setup your memory manually by inputting the speed, timings and DRAM voltage.

It depends on the timings.

Look in the user manual. There's a section on how to update the motherboard's BIOS. It's definitely something that you should look into. There has been a couple of firmwares for that motherboard that helped improve memory compatibility. Who knows? It might save you some manual tuning time.
