    No sound after SP1 upgrade--Code 39

If you have system restore enabled unlike me, goto Start > type "system restore" > click the first thing that comes up and go from there.

    No sound after SP1 upgrade--Code 39

Yeah, for some reason system restore was disabled. The only backup I have is a system image, which was deleted. Either way, I decided to reinstall. My partitions on the SSD will be aligned, and all the junk that autodesk left on my computer will be gone. Plus, I can reset the blocks in the...

    No sound after SP1 upgrade--Code 39

Hello everyone, how's it going? I haven't been at Tom's for a very, very long time, so many of you might not know who I am... Well, I recently updated my Windows 7 x64 Ultimate to SP1 (as of about half an hour ago), and I've had one noticeable problem: my sound doesn't work. This means that...

    I made a booboo =(

Vista doesn't allow downgrading to older versions (2003 is older) of windows. Back up, wipe the drive with a 3rd-party utility, then install 2003. :)

    ATI vs Nvidia

I've been ATI since the 4xx series, but I might consider switching back to the Big Green if they cut the price on their 460, so I can go SLI. :) Right now, I have a 5770 vaporX (OC to 930/1350), and it's going to get a buddy to work with most likely in the coming month. I'm pondering the idea...

    Overclocking damage?

Any overclock can cause anything to become unstable, crash, or leave permanent damage. Going to 900/1250 shouldn't be a problem, however. Go download MSI Kombustor and MSI Afterburner. Use Kombustor's xtreme burning mode with postprocessing in a window, and keep your eyes on the temperatures...

    I made a booboo =(

You can read your mobo manual, read where the jumpers are and look for "Clear CMOS". Or you can take the coin cell battery out of your mobo, sing the happy birthday song, then put it back in. That should clear your BIOS settings. So, unplug the computer from the wall, unplug peripherals that...

    IC Diamond Test Results

I haven't been to Tom's in a long time, but either way I might be able to put some more ICD on my CPU heatsink, and maybe run a few tests. Results would be interesting since the ambients are about 45C here. :( @ICD, what application method do you recommend? I read this guide a long time ago...

    IC Diamond Test Results

^^Exactly. The thing is I have a little problem with running my CPU at 100 degrees C at more than a few minutes. IMO, if you're into pushing hardware, ceramique is the way to go because it can withstand subzero :P BTW, @IC Diamond, are you guys planning on releasing a paste that can handle...

    IC Diamond Test Results

@ryan (if I daresay), Shin-Etsu X32-7783D (not 63D) outperforms everything except for indigo xtreme. I'm definitely not baking my CPU at 100C to melt the indigo, and most likely not spending on a TIM that's $10 per gram... :|
