alternate mode

I recently bought an asus vivobook s15, which has a usb-c port, and a dell usb-c monitor. I wanted to connect them via a cable but I found out my laptop doesn't support the usb-c alternate mode so I can't carry video, data and power. Now, if I buy a usb-c hub will that work? or does it also...
