audio over usb

I'm having Asus GL503ge which is having a USB type c port and also a 3.5mm jack. But the audio audio quality of that jack is not great so I want o use it by connecting a USB c to 3.5mm hi res adaptor. I tried connecting a USB c to 3.5mm adaptor to that USB c port and connecting a earphone but...
