bad drive

Once again I'm trying to get my files off of my old laptop HDD using a sata to usb 3 converter and I'm experiencing a world of issues. While it was still installed in my laptop at some point something went wrong and I was no longer able to get into windows. The drive was detected normally...

my pc freezes when i put my cpu vertical ,but when i put it horizontally it runs fine.. it started after approx 10 days buying . my pc is new my specs fx 6300 ,asus m5a78l lx3 ,8gb hyperx fury ram,r7 250 ddr5 1gb saphire with boost,psu umax 600w.
