cd to hdd

I have a laptop that has one of those (converters?) that let's you put in an hdd instead of a cd/dvd and I kinda pulled it out (normally using the little lever) at the time the laptop was turned off for sure and had no battery(then I put it back it again normally) but a few days later I charged...
