glitch download

Whenever I download a game of any size on Origin or Steam client, my pc becomes very laggy and practically unusable during browsing and other basic applications. I have a 1tb m.2 ssd with plenty of storage available on it so I don't believe it has anything to do with a slow drive. Task manager...
