gpu fan spike

My gpu fan is suddenly spiking. It's Palit GTX 1080. In normal circumstances it was alway off (0%) on idle until it reached temperature over 55+ Now in the interval of 8 seconds, it suddenly spikes to ~ 1040 - 1095 rpm and drops back to 0. Temperature is about 50 degrees. No issues in BIOS...
