TL;DR - PSU cables mixed by accident, two HDD’s not being detected. A local well trusted recovery company says they can with about 85% security recover my data, but that it will cost 975 USD for EACH drive. Is this a fair price? I feel like it is...
Hi helpful people, I have a HDD that wouldn't spin up and it wouldn't be recognized when plugged in to PC. It's a WD Caviar Green packaged as External HDD 1TB.
I've done the following checks:
SATA/USB Converter: tried with other HDD so that's not problem, and used another SATA/USB Converter too...
Have a Gateway FX-6840-23, Windows 7 Pro, 64 - bit, 1TB HDD, AMD Radeon 5700 series GPU, upgraded PSU - Rosewill, 8GB RAM, Asus Zonar sound card. Computer has been warning me of a Smart Event on the HDD, and it eventually crashed. Can't boot, even with a boot disc. Not concerned with the OS...
