java 64-bit

So I have a problem with Java, it's not on my system for some reason. when I tried to install "jre-8u371-windows-x64.exe" from the java site, it won't even install, when I click it to install I get the timer circle, but nothing else. What could have happened? I tried a search for Java on the C...

I have really bad stuttering problems and crashes when running Minecraft Forge 1.8.9. When I run Minecraft 1.17 or when I go on Lunar Client 1.8.9 I don't encounter any of these issues. I suspect it's something to do with the version of Java (JVM/executable) it's using though I'm not entirely...
