memory rank

I have a laptop (MSI GF63 Thin 9SC) with two slots, one slot is plugged with 8GB 2666Mghz(Single Rank) stick. Is it appropriate to install one 16GB 2666Mghz stick(dual rank). Mixing Single rank(8GB) with dual rank(16GB) stick will it improve performance or it decreases the performance? I...
