tip polarity

I need to determine the correct configuration for a power supply for an external HDD. The enclosure has a sticker which says '12V 2A' - straight forward enough - but it doesn't have the usual tip polarity diagram. beside the 12V 2A there is a solid line above a dashed line of the same length...
