Ok. I have spent about 18 hours today fiddling with my first build.

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/9gNJBm

Firstly I have read that the recommended ram for a 970 is 12GB. (Game debate). Do you think that's really necessary?

Do you think I would get any bottlenecking anywhere?

I will be looking to OC both the cpu and the gpu are the psu and cooling up to this?

Can you see any potential problems with this?

I would really like to get it under £1000 so if you think there is anything I could cut that would be great.

Thanks for your feedback and advice.

This is still a great gaming build for £985

The power supply is good enough for it's price, and it is 80+ Gold certified so it's kind of a given that it will be good. If you find the EVGA one cheaper, just get it as it is good enough for your build. The recommended ram is just that, recommended, I doubt it really affects your graphic card's performance, so all in all your good with all your parts, there is nothing I would change apart from maybe changing the ssd to a Samsung 840 EVO but that just gives you faster read/write speeds, the Crucial MX100 is still very good for your budget, so it is up to you whether you want to spend an extra £20-30 for the Samsung 840 EVO 120gb ssd, which is faster than the Crucial MX100 128gb ssd.

I was actually thinking today maybe I should up the psu to enable adding another 970 in a couple of years time. Do you think I would need 750? or maybe 850? Assuming both are OC as well as the cpu OC.

Thanks again

If you add another card in near future and do a SLI setup then only you will need a 750 watt PSU otherthan that how much you OC the 550 watt would be sufficient.

CPU 88 watt GPU 145 watt other components around 50 - 70 watt so around 300 watt of usage if you OC them then a 100 watt extra at max.

OK I will go up to 750 then. Other than the B2 and G2 you recommended earlier any others worth looking at? Do I need gold rating or drop to Bronze?

bronze and gold are just for power efficiency what is your budget for the PSU ?

Probably £100 That will put me £60 over my £1000 budget which I guess isn't too bad.

Ok, thanks. Sorry I'm going round in circles just want to make sure I'm not doing anything stupid.
