Hello,

I'm currently looking into to assembling my own PC over the christmas period. I have set a budget of around £1000 but this doesn't include peripherals such as monitor, keyboard or mouse. Please take into that this is my first PC build and I have virtually no experience.

I've currently come up with:

Case: NZXT Phantom 410 - Already have this :/
CPU: Intel i5 3570K £170
M/B: ASROCK Z77 Extreme4 £110
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (LP) £60
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB £73 - Can I get someone's opinion on this?
SSD: Crucial M4 128GB £77
GPU: ASUS GTX 660Ti Direct CU II £250
PSU: Corsair-CMPSU-600CXV2UK £57
Cooler: Phantek PH-TC14PE £75
OS: Windows 7 £84 - I intend to use the system builders version, is it alright to do so?

My main queries are firstly what's your opinion on this set up and what improvements can I make?

I'm currently looking at alternative HDD's and a cheap but effiecient optical drive...

PS: I will update links once shopping becomes unrestricted by my ISP - Gotta love live in college ;)

for gaming unless you are going to do lots of multitasking 8gb of ram is enough so save money there

seagate barracuda drives are fine

and what your paying for cooling is pretty high aswell unless its water cooling
